2008 Joe Girardi New York Yankees First Season Signed Game Worn Jersey Photo-Matched to Four Games (Photo-Matched & Steiner)
Displayed is a 2008 game worn Joe Girardi New York Yankees home pinstriped jersey from Girardi's first season as the Bronx Bombers' manager. As a player, Girardi was an excellent defensive catcher who played in the Major Leagues for 15 seasons: Chicago Cubs (1989-1992); Colorado Rockies (1993-95); New York Yankees (1996-99); Chicago Cubs (2000-02); St. Louis Cardinals (2003). Girardi hit .267 in his career, with 36 home runs. Later, Girardi was a Major League manager: Florida Marlins (2006); New York Yankees (2008-17); Philadelphia Phillies (2020-22). In his first season as the Yankees manager, the Bronx Bombers finished in third place in the AL East. In his second season at the helm, the Yankees won the American League Pennant and the World Series. The jersey shows outstanding use, with multi-game wear. The jersey was worn in at least five games. On the left sleeve is a "1923-2008 Yankee Stadium" patch that commemorates the Yankees' tenure at the original Yankee Stadium. On the right sleeve is a "Major League Baseball All Star Game N.Y.C. 2008" patch. The bottom left outside tail has a Majestic Athletic manufacturer's patch and a hologram (008680 LH) dating the jersey to June 9th, 2008, and photo-Matched to four additional games: May 17 (Getty 81131084), May 21 (97280196), May 24 (81225476), June 3 (81390298). Under the abovementioned tag is a size "48" tag. The back of the neck has an "MLB" patch. The front has an interlocking navy-blue NY, and the back has a sewn-on navy-blue "27". Girardi has signed the jersey on the front, below the interlocking NY, using a navy-blue marker. The jersey has a few tiny stains, measuring about 0.25" each. Overall, the jersey is in excellent condition, and it comes with a Steiner LOA.
