There aren't many men who spent as many years in professional baseball as Red Schoendienst, who's still going strong at age 90. In 1992, the Cardinals great celebrated his 50th year as a pro, and the team awarded him this plaque before the game on September 12 of that season, and this lot includes photos of him receiving the plaque, which measures 17" x 21". The Hall of Famer's 1992 home white uniform that he wore as a coach is part of the deal. The uniform features all the proper tagging with name sewn on a plate on the back, a 100th Anniversary patch on the sleeve, Rawlings size 50, 1992 tagging in the front tail and a matching pair of pants and stirrups. The New Era cap may be from a year or two later. The jersey is signed on the front in blue Sharpie and shows staining from use.
