9/25/56 Sal Maglie Brooklyn Dodgers No-Hitter Ticket Stub PSA VG 3 (MK)
On September 25, 1956, Brooklyn Dodgers pitcher Sal Maglie etched his name into the annals of baseball history by throwing a no-hitter against the Philadelphia Phillies. Offered is a ticket stub from that memorable game that has been graded VG 3 (MK) by PSA. This is one of only five ticket stubs from this game listed in the PSA Population Report and the only example to receive a numerical grade. The ticket received an "MK" (marked) designation because it bears a vintage ink notation on the front that reads "No Hits Maglie." Maglie's no hitter, which was the only no-hitter of his career, was especially impressive given the magnitude of the game. The Dodgers entered the day a half game behind the Milwaukee Braves in the standings with just five games to play. Maglie, who had a reputation as a "big game" pitcher, certainly proved why that day, as he allowed just two walks in his dominating 5-0 win against the Phillies in front of 15,204 delirious fans. This is a rare no-hitter ticket stub dating from the Dodgers' final pennant-winning season in Brooklyn.
