1910 E98 "Set of 30" #28 Honus Wagner (Red Background). Graded NM-MT 8 by BVG. This card has an amazing story. In 2020, MJ Holding Company, a distributor of trading cards to big-box retailers, offered a product called "Gems of the Game." The box, which was sold for $19.99 at Walmart and Target stores in the United States and Canada, contained repurposed packages of unopened modern cards, but also one guaranteed graded card. That year, among the graded cards included in each box were examples from the 1910 E98 "Set of 30." Imagine our consignor's surprise when he opened his box and pulled out what is one of the keys to the set, Honus Wagner, in phenomenal high grade, no less. Aside from being slightly off center left to right and top to bottom, the card remains in pristine condition, with sharp corners, strong colors, and a clean reverse.
