AFL Football Used In Super Bowl II
Starr drops back to pass. He sees Dowler. Dowler’s got it and he’s in! The Packers under Lombardi were one of the best in history and they punished the Oakland Raiders 33-14 in the second meeting between the NFL and AFL. Green Bay had won its third consecutive NFL championship in 1968 before capturing its second straight Super Bowl. Bart Starr was once again chosen the game’s most valuable player, completing 13 of 24 passes for 202 yards and one touchdown. The Raiders kept it close for a while, trailing only 16-7 at the half, but under Starr’s masterful guidance, Green Bay pulled away in the second half. Don Chandler kicked four field goals and all-pro cornerback Herb Adderley capped the Green Bay scoring with a 60-yard interception return. It turned out to be Vince Lombardi’s final game as coach of the Packers. During his nine years there he won six Western Conference championships, five NFL championships, and two Super Bowls. This is an Official Spalding AFL ball signed by President Milt Woodard and used in Lombardi’s final game. Very minor scuffing. Extremely historic football. Comes with LOA from ex-ref Ben Dreith.
