Amazing Collection of Howard Cosell Personal Effects (700+ pieces)
He was arguably the most controversial and polarizing sportscaster ever to put on a headset. Howard Cosell was both brilliant and arrogant, talented and temperamental. And this collection of personal artifacts serves as a pastiche of his colorful life, with all of the contents coming from a relation of Cosell's close friend Murray Landis. Among the clothing are: six (6) Wide World of Sports & "ABC Sports" Monday Night Football blazer patches and trio of Cosell blazers with NCAA Football, Monday Night Football and Kronk Boxing Team. The memorabilia includes: One of his personally used typewriters, multiple cameras, limousine effects including liquor bottles & phones, an ABC Sports Beat vanity limo license plate from his last ABC show in 1985, which Cosell called his best work ever. There are over 170 other ABC Sports artifacts, including 135+ ABC Sports pins, multiple Olympic games, key chains (12), travel bag, needlepoint, 20+ luggage tags, thermometer and umbrellas. There are many banners, including two ABC Wide World of Sports banners measuring 43x47" and 75x86". There are over 125 tickets and credentials, including a 1976 Foreman-Frazier fight, to the 1984 US Open and 100+ name tags. There is a complete set of 266 slides from the 1975 NFL season including Walter Payton and Joe Namath. They are housed in an NFL 1975 "AFC and NFC Color Slides" box. There are Hall of Fame Dinner pieces gifted to Howard at the 1993 National Baseball Hall Tribute Dinner in New York CIty, the highlight of which is a signed program by 16, including DiMaggio, Williams, Steinbrenner, Musial, Banks, Berra, Stargell, etc. Plus, two baseball travel bags, menu, handkerchief and coaster with his table number. A whole lot of Howard, who lived life to the fullest.
