Arguably the finest Gehrig signed photograph in existence. Remarkable image featuring the Iron Horse in the Yankee dugout, as he selects a choice piece of lumber, is nothing short of fantastic. Even more astounding, however, is the beautiful blue fountain pen script penned perfectly on the surface, "To Johnnie Hargan When I learn to hit like you sing - then maybe I'll be a success - Cordially Lou Gehrig" - quite the compliment from a man whose achievements on the field, and tragic early death, would make him a true American icon. Crystal clear photo measures approx. 9.25 x 7.25" (slight evidence of trimming along the edges) and remains in overall Excellent condition, save for minor restoration work mentioned solely for the sake of accuracy. Incredibly bold signature and inscription are as fresh as the day they were penned, and rate a solid 10 out of a possible 10.
