Andy Warhol Campbell’s Soup Paper Dress
Art and commerce collide in this kitschy vestige of the ‘60s. While the nation consumed Andy Warhol’s Pop art, Campbell’s Soup designed a Warhol work that could be worn. The paper dress is actually made of 80 percent cellulose and 20 percent cotton. “No cleaning, no washing” the label reads. There is some discoloration on the white straps and some wrinkling on the top part. Campbell’s produced this 39-inch A-line dress with the iconic can labels for an ad campaign when women actually wore paper dresses in the ‘60s. Comes with original envelope. Warhol apparently yearned to make all clothing disposable and this was the beginning. Mmmm Good! .”
