August 18, 1962 Ticket

August 18, 1962 Ticket

A historical event, indeed, as the Beatle's newest member, Ringo Starr, made his debut. A two-hour rehearsal was all that was needed to make the switch from Rory Storm's Hurricanes. This ticket was taped into a scrapbook, and "The Fabulous Beatles Band" has been underlined in ballpoint. A stamped "447" on the reverse, along with a handwritten note "We hope you will come again…enjoy yourself…18/8/62…Horticultural Society", suggests that this particular ticket was complimentary. Perhaps, this ticket was retrieved from the bottom of the numbered run since Hulme Hall's capacity was 450. It should be noted that Ringo had previously subbed for a sick Pete Best the previous February 5. Ringo's transition was quite natural since the Hurricane's had constantly shared billing with the Beatles since the marathon sessions in Hamburg. 4 ?"x3 ?".
