Babe Ruth Pitching for the New York Yankees Glass Plate Negative by Charles Conlon

Babe Ruth Pitching for the New York Yankees Glass Plate Negative by Charles Conlon

Superb offering in this original, one of a kind, from the camera, glass plate negative of the immortal Babe Ruth. For starters, it was taken circa 1921 by the Dean of baseball photographers, Charles Conlon, and comes with the original envelope which has Conlon's writing on it, as does the glass plate itself. Next, the content is significant, featuring a rare image of Babe in pitching form while wearing a Yankees uniform. Though he was a star pitcher in his formative years in Boston with the Red Sox, the Bambino took the mound in game action just five times in his 15 Yankees seasons (of course, he was the winning pitcher in all five). Negative measures 4x5.5", paper envelope shows its age with extensive foxing and some cracking at the edges, only highlighting the age and significance of this duo. Historic content from the Brown Brothers, the premier photo aggregation service starting in the early 1900s.
