Babe Ruth Receives his 1923 World Championship Watch from Commissioner Landis Photograph (PSA Type I)

Original Type I photograph capturing Babe Ruth receiving his 1923 World Series watch from Baseball Commissioner Kenesaw Landis following the Yankees home opener at Yankee Stadium on April 23, 1924. Numerous Brown Brothers credit stamps appear on the reverse, along with a newspaper clipping featuring this very photo. As noted in the caption below the newspaper photo, Herb Pennock, who won the Yankees home opener against Boston, is pictured in the center observing the presentation. Ruth had plenty of reason to smile here, as he was also the hitting star in the Yankees' win that day. Ruth had three hits in four at bats, including a home run, to power the Yankees to a 13-4 victory. The photo (7.25x9.25") displays moderate creasing, editorial markings on the front, and a small piece of tape on the reverse. In Good to Very Good condition overall. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
