Baccarat Crystal 1985 Jersey Derby Winner's Trophy (Spend A Buck)
The single richest payday in racing up to that time and one of the most magnificent trophies we have ever handled, this trophy comes from that important race during the 1985 season. This was one of four wins by Spend A Buck that counted towards his then record $2 million bonus. This spectacular heavy crystal in the form of a horse's head is solid Baccarat crystal and sits atop a wooden base all handcrafted that resembles a race course, complete with inside and outside rails in miraculous detail. Plaque on base reads "The Jersey Derby Grade III, $1,000,000, May 27, 1985, Won By Hunter Farm's, SPEND A BUCK." The crystal itself is made in France and stamped as such on bottom. Overall Excellent condition and from the collection of the owner, the late Dennis Diaz, it stands 15" tall and measures 20x13".
