<p>Modern-day copy of the most important sports transaction in history: the Boston Red Sox' sale of Babe Ruth's contract to the New York Yankees in 1919. This copy originates from the Barry Halper Collection and was originally part of Lot 560 in the 1999 Sotheby's sale of Halper's collection. (<span style="font-size: 10pt;">Lot 560 was featured in the live-auction portion of the sale and consisted of a large collection of documents relating to the sale of Ruth, from which this item, as well as every other "sale of Ruth" document featured in this auction, originates.) It should be noted than an actual example of this contract appeared in Lelands' 2017 "Invit17," where it realized $2,303,319. The six-page contract (8x13"; unfolded), which is is housed in a copy of the original blue docket, bears a "1991" notary seal and is in Excellent to Mint condition.</span></p>
