Bear Bryant Personally Gifted Houndstooth Hat To Max Baer Jr.
From Bear to Baer! This signature gray houndstooth hat by Adam of New York and likely worn by legendary college football coach Bear Bryant was given to golf buddy and actor Max Baer, Jr., who played Jethro Bodine on the "Beverly Hillbillies" TV show. The hat is Size XL and is minus the feather, which has fallen off over the course of time. The interior shows good use with some small holes evident. Bryant's widow could not say that the hat was specifically worn by Bear but there is a good chance it was as the size matches other known examples. All proceeds from this lot go to God's Goods Thrift Shop, and the provenance can be seen on YouTube under: "A Rare Bear Bryant Find In Bluffton."
