Birdman of Alcatraz Letter

Birdman of Alcatraz Letter

This letter, dated March 9, 1953, is written from Robert Stroud, also known as the Birdman of Alcatraz, to his long-time friend Fred Daw in Florida. This is a genuine handwritten letter, not a copy or a reprint. It is difficult to read and Stroud acknowledges in the letter that "the penpoint [he] is using tonight is terrible." In this letter, he discusses some of his trials and tribulations as well as birds, breeding and genetics. He also writes about "the book," which could possibly be "Birdman of Alcatraz" by Tom Gaddis, which was published in 1955 and was presumably researched at this time. The two-page letter is signed in two places by Stroud - once at the top and again at the letter's conclusion. The letter is in EX condition.
