Bob Uecker 1967 Philadelphia Phillies Jersey
The first Uecker jersey ever to be publicly offered. Game worn Phillies jersey from one of the most colorful personalities in the history of the game. The media son of the predecessor Joe Gargiola, Uecker turned a mediocre baseball career into a meteoric broadcasting career with his quick wit and internally pointed acid tongue. His work as a pitchman for Miller Lite turned him into one of the most recognizable faces in sports. His work on the 1980s sitcom Mr. Belvedere turned him into, well… you can fill that one in yourselves. Beautiful jersey sports “Phillies” embroidered across the front with a “star” to dot the “i” (how ironic). Name and year are sewn into the collar on a cloth swatch “Uecker 67.” Number on the back is “40” as it was changed from his original #9 when it was sent to the minors for reuse. From a long time uniform collector, this is the first time this has seen the light of day. Signed “Bob Uecker” across the front in black marker. Well deserved for wear in the “front roooow.”
