"Boston Bomber" Trial Courtroom Sketch by Jane Collins
Chilling courtroom sketch from the trial of Boston Marathon Bomber Dzhokar Tsarnaev, created by artist Jane Collins. "Tsarnaev" is written along with the date "3/5" on the bottom, timing this scene to the second day of the trial. Signed "Jane Flavell Collins," this artwork was made in the courtroom during the trial by Collins, who sketched many high-profile trials including that of Whitey Bulger; a similarly-framed sketch of that scene is also available in this auction. During the 2013 Boston Marathon, a pair of pressure-cooker bombs detonated, killing three people and causing widespread chaos. Dzhokar's brother and co-conspirator, Tamarian, was killed in the aftermath and the surviving brother was captured and convicted on 30 counts.
