Boston Garden Double Figural Side Seat
Built in 1928, the Boston Garden brought in streams of fans and numerous championships over nearly sixty years. For years the stadium seats from within have commanded premium prices from collectors looking to relive those very fond moments of yesteryear. During that time we have had the good fortune to bring such offerings to auction but never, until now, did we imagine we would be lucky to come across this next fixture. Presented is the one and only double figural side seat ever to be installed and enjoyed at the Garden. Wonderfully rendered in an attractive art deco design, it was intended for use by handicapped visitors of the famed "Gallery Gods" section, located high above the parquet. Stenciled with the number "1", and securely mounted to an original section of the playing floor, it owns a brass plaque affixed to the wooden portion certifying its authenticity. The seat is in original condition, showing some surface rust and with paint worn and rubbed down in many places to bare wood and metal by generations of Celtics and Bruins fans. An attractive and historic item from one of the greatest of all sports arenas.
