Boxing Full Ticket Collection With Braddocks (4)
An astounding group of boxing tickets highlighted by a June 13th, 1935 specimen from the Heavyweight Title fight between James J. Braddock and Max Bear. In the middle of Yankee Stadium and against incredible odds, Braddock outboxed the Champion, earning himself the nickname "Cinderella Man". His story inspired a nation caught deep within The Great Depression which recently was the subject of the Oscar nominated film starring Russell Crowe. The rust colored ticket carries a beautiful gold embossed back and classic graphics. Only minor paper loss to one corner and the holes punched at the time of the event, EX+. The remaining three include: 1) July 18th, 1929 ticket from Tommy Loughran and Braddock at Madison Square Garden. That night, Braddock not only lost his belt but began a downward spiral of misfortune and self doubt that would eventually bankrupt him before his triumphant return six years later. Minor edge wear, EX+. 2) June 19th, 1946 ticket for the Heavyweight Championship between Joe Louis vs. Billy Conn at Yankee Stadium. Minor edge and corner wear, EX. 3) July 12th, 1950 ticket for the Middleweight Championship between Jake LaMotta vs.Tiberio Mitri. Signed by LaMotta in black sharpie, EX.
