Candlestick Stadium Photo

Candlestick Stadium Photo

This gorgeous black and white photo depicts the very first opening day at San Francisco's Candlestick Park in 1960. The 7.5x9" photo, framed to 12.5"x12.5", shows an aerial view of the stadium on the western shore of the San Francisco Bay, with thousands of cars and buses neatly parked outside, eagerly awaiting the crack of the bat. The detail of image photo is absolutely remarkable. Below the photo is a typewritten caption "April 12, 1960 - Opening Day / Candlestick Park / San Francisco - St. Louis Cardinals / Attendance: 42,269". This fantastic piece of sports history comes from the collection of Harry M. Stevens.
