Carl Mays Single Signed Baseball
Deadball hurler with a submarine delivery that caused baseball’s first fatality, Carl Mays has signed boldly on the sweet spot of this non-official baseball. The black ink signature is very close to perfect, grading a “9” out of a possible 10, and shellacked in that condition for all of eternity. On the panel above is the inscription, “To My Friend __” (name has been rubbed out), but this displays as a single signed with no inscription. Ball itself is crazed throughout. Vintage patina is golden brown.
