Splendid head shot of one of the best pitchers of all time, Christy Mathewson, circa 1910s. The right-hander gazes past the camera in this close-up from his New York Giants heyday. Some creasing at the corners of this 6x4.25" shot does not detract from the image, verso has pencil marks including printers instructions as well as stamps from Brown Brothers, the photo service founded in the early 1900s. Just for reference, Christy had 12 consecutive seasons of 22 or more wins from 1903-14, topping out with an incredible 37 in 1908. Encapsulated PSA Type I.
