In 1911, as a extremely successful corporate promotion, Helmar Turkish Trophy Cigarettes would send the buyer a "silk" by mail in exchange for 25 Helmar coupons. These coupons were packed one per package with Helmar Turkish Trophy Cigarettes. One of the most desirable of players available was Christy Mathewson in his pitching pose. These S81 silks are extremely fragile, with fraying of the edges very common. This silk has some minor fraying and a light fingertip stain at the top border, otherwise Excellent or better. Measures approximately 7x8.5".
