Circa 1879 Walter Camp Original Cabinet Photograph
The Father of American Football, who drove its evolution from rugby, is shown in his prime years at Yale. Camp stands tall among the architects of the game such as Amos Alonzo Stagg, Knute Rockne, Jim Thorpe and Pop Warner. Stellar cabinet photograph measures 4.1x6.5". He is shown as team captain, in uniform leaning on the legendary Old Yale Fence. Contrast and quality is stunning with ornate "G.W. Pach" photography stampings on the reverse. Few minor dots on back and one small dot on front, otherwise NM-MT. The mate to this wonderful piece, dating from the following year, realized $6,322 in our last auction.
