Circa 1900 Decorative Hand-Painted Glass Lamp with Sports Motif
Designed for a sports enthusiast, this impressive turn-of-the-century glass lamp features hand-painted sports figures on both the body and decorative glass shade. The main body pictures large images of a rower, a field hockey player, and a golfer. The shade displays a baseball player, a soccer player, a female tennis player, and a female croquet player. All the figures are pictured in period garb. This was originally an oil lamp that was later converted to an electrical lamp. Despite the conversion, all of the original fixtures remain, including the oil tank, wick dial, and lampshade fitting. The lamp, which is mounted upon an ornate metallic base, displays moderate wear commensurate with its age and former use. Excellent condition overall. The lamp is in working order.
