Circa 1908 Joe Tinker Photograph (PSA Type I)

Circa 1908 Joe Tinker Photograph (PSA Type I)

Original Type I photo of Cubs Hall of Fame shortstop Joe Tinker as a member of the Chicago Cubs. Tinker is pictured at the plate during a game against the New York Giants at the Polo Grounds. Two Brown Brothers credit stamps appear on the reverse, along with Tinker’s name written in pencil. Although no year is listed, the Cubs road-uniform style shown here was only used by the club in 1908. Given the overflow crowd (fans can be seen sitting on the field in foul territory), this might be the famous Merkle game, or perhaps the makeup game at the end of the year that decided the pennant. The photo (6.5x5”) displays a small corner chip in the lower left and a tiny edge tear along the right border. There is also a light pencil outline around Tinker’s image. In Good condition overall. Culled from the Legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
