Circa 1910 James Jeffries - Jack Johnson Cloth (16x16")
This incredible product came out of “The Fight of Century” and has survived the ravages of time. Offered in EX-MT condition, this square cloth boasts a fabulous image of former champion James Jeffries, and Black champion, Jack Johnson. It was the fight that made the hated Jack Johnson a national celebrity. Jeffries came out of retirement to fight Johnson as “The Great White Hope.” After Johnson knocked him out in the 15th round, Jeffries proclaimed, “I could never have whipped Johnson at my best.” Scene is the two fighters squaring off in the middle of the ring with their names underlining their images. Referee, “Tex” Rickard is also pictured along with the fans in the background. Marked, “Souvenir Reno, Nevada - July 4, 1910.”
