Circa 1917 Smokey Joe Wood Photograph (PSA Type I)

Circa 1917 Smokey Joe Wood Photograph (PSA Type I)

Original Type I photograph capturing Joe Wood as a member of the Cleveland Indians. The photo captures Wood warming up on the sidelines with a few of his teammates prior to a game. Wood's name, along with a few editorial markings appear on the reverse. Wood was a star pitcher with the Red Sox in 1911 and 1912, but after he injured his arm he continued his career as an outfielder with Cleveland. Wood played with the Indians in 1917, and in 1919 and 1920 before finally retiring. Although no date is listed, the uniform style shown here was worn by Cleveland only in 1917. The photo (7.5x9.25") displays a tiny chip in the lower right corner and is otherwise in Excellent to Mint condition. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
