Circa 1920 Thos. E. Wilson & Co. Original Glass Plate Negatives (2)

Circa 1920 Thos. E. Wilson & Co. Original Glass Plate Negatives (2)

Pair of large original glass plate negatives capturing the exterior and interior of the Thos. E. Wilson & Co. store, which today is known as the Wilson Sporting Goods Company. The company was founded in 1913 under the name Ashland Manufacturing Company, but the following year it was renamed the Thos. E. Wilson & Co., after its president, Thomas E. Wilson. The name remained until 1924, when it became known as Wilson-Western Sporting Goods. Both images offered here feature many of the company's wares at the time. The front window features various footballs and football helmets, while the interior showroom pictures bicycles and display cases packed with sporting attire and shoes. Each negative (8x10") remains in fine overall condition. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archives. (Please note: the positive images seen on our website are for illustrative purposes only and do not accompany the negatives; only the negatives are offered in this lot.)
