Circa 1930s Five 5 Star Whiskey Bar Room Baseball Scoreboard
Circa 1930s Five 5 Star Whiskey Bar Room Baseball Scoreboard. It is an original advertising scoreboard. Exhibiting moderate wear throughout, it measures approx. 13.5x33.5". The colorful orange, black and red scoreboard was hung on a wall, and before the days of television, patrons of the bar could follow the basics of the local team, or a World Series, through a Western Union wire or radio report that gave information that could be written in chalk on this scoreboard. The heading on top of the thick poster board scoreboard reads, "FIVE 5 STAR WHISKEY SCORES EVERY TIME!" The board allows inning by inning posting of scores, with room for two extra innings. At the bottom of the scorecard is a place for the batteries. Three spots on the scoreboard display whiskey ads, for G&W whiskey (1) and for G&W Five 5 Star. (2). The bottom of the scoreboard has printing that shows that the whiskey is 90 proof 77% grain neutral spirits, and manufactured in Detroit, Michigan. The scoreboard has a few small holes from where the scoreboard was nailed to tacked to the wall. The offered scoreboard would add a nice, visual touch to any collection.
