Circa 1938-39 Jackie Robinson Signature - One of the Earliest Known to Exist! (PSA)

Circa 1938-39 Jackie Robinson Signature - One of the Earliest Known to Exist! (PSA)

Presented is one of the earliest known Jackie Robinson signatures, obtained when Jackie was attending Pasadena Junior College, circa 1938-39. In a page from an autograph book, Robinson has signed his name as well as the inscription "Kindest Regards - Stanley - Jack Robinson." The signature and inscription were signed to teammate Stan Gray on a clean album page. His signature on the page is joined by the signatures of two other teammates. After starring in four sports (baseball, football, basketball, and track) at Pasadena Junior College, Robinson went on to UCLA, where he again played all four sports, and was nationally known for his football exploits. Hall of Famer Robinson broke the Major League Baseball "color line" when he made his debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947 and becoming the NL Rookie of the Year. Robinson was a 7-time All-Star, and he won a batting title and an MVP. He batted .313 lifetime and helped lead the Dodgers to six pennants and the 1955 World Championship. After his baseball retirement, Robinson became the first vice president of a major American corporation when he served in that role for Chock Full O' Nuts. PSA has encapsulated the page and certified the signature as "Authentic." The signature grades approximately 7.5/10. A Jackie Robinson autograph, particularly one from when he was only 19 or 20 years old, is a treasure. His work for civil rights, both during and after his baseball career, makes him one of the foremost contributors to civil rights in American history.
