Circa 1940 Cincinnati Reds Player's Jacket

Circa 1940 Cincinnati Reds Player's Jacket

For being more than 70 years old, this 1940s Cincinnati Reds piece of history is a beautiful example of one of the nicest jackets ever made. Issued to the players near the mid-1900s comes this red body and blue trim heavy jacket with light tan buck skin sleeves. Embroidered with a "5" on the left sleeve, this was originally thought to be Willard Hershberger's jacket but the style and size (46) tagging indicates that it is from the early 1940s, after Hershberger was deceased. It was most likely used by Dick West, who wore number 5 on the Reds during the early to mid-1940s. Includes Jim Carrey tag in collar and King Sportwear Company tag inside the tail, the jacket is in superb condition and everything about it screams original including the chenille Reds logo on the back and working zipper.
