Circa 1940 Hank Gowdy Game Worn Warm-Up Jacket

Circa 1940 Hank Gowdy Game Worn Warm-Up Jacket

He was one of the great catchers of the Teens and Twenties, best known for his contributions to the "Miracle Braves" of 1914. Almost three decades later, as a coach for the Cincinnati Reds, he wore this terrific, patriotic red, white and blue warm-up as he surveyed the troops from the dugout. Simple letterman-style design features large logo "Reds" patch on back with his jersey number "2" patch affixed just above the left cuff. A red rectangle of fabric stitched inside the elasticized waistband has "Gowdy" embroidered in white. "A.G. Spalding & Bros." tagging in collar. Condition is second to none, entirely wearable. A terrific specimen.
