Circa 1945 Count Basie Concert Poster

Circa 1945 Count Basie Concert Poster

Count Basie was one of the original jazz men and the first leader of a Kansas City style swing band to garner national fame. A true maven, Basie led his orchestra decade after decade and was one of the few leaders savvy enough to survive the 1950’s death of big band and play until his death in 1984. This 14” x 20” poster is promoting a two-night appearance on November 20th, circa 1945 in Union City, Indiana. The clear tri-color print is on heavy stock. Each corner has a pinhole with a small rust stain surrounding it so you know that this poster was part of the effort to fill the seats.
