Circa 1950s Babe Ruth Photograph - 1933 Blue Bird Image

Circa 1950s Babe Ruth Photograph - 1933 Blue Bird Image

Presented is a circa 1950 photo that came from an image used by Ruth's very rare 1933 Bluebird Juice baseball card. The photo measures approx. 8x10". As sportswriter Robert Creamer said of the great Bambino, "Babe Ruth transcended the sport, moved far beyond the artificial limits of baselines and outfield fences and sports pages." Making a case for Ruth as the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of all Time) baseball player is not difficult. His days as a pitcher, mostly for the Red Sox between 1916 and 1919, resulted in a 94-46 lifetime record with a career ERA of 2.28. Of course, as a batter, Ruth was phenomenal: 714 home runs, and years when Ruth would hit more home runs than several other combined team totals in the American League. Ruth was no modern slugger who hits home runs and bats in the low .200s; Ruth has a lifetime batting average of .342. The offered photograph was used on one of the mere total of two cards in the 1933 Blue Bird Juice set, with each card measuring 3.88x5.88". Each of the Blue Bird Juice cards had white letters at the bottom reading, "Babe Ruth" and "See other side," On the verso was an advertisement for Blue Bird Juice. Yes, both cards in the set were of Ruth. One a front view of Ruth batting, as seen herein, and the other card showing another view of Ruth, this time batting from the side. The displayed photo exhibits some foxing, and the photo shows the edges to have some jagged areas along the left and right sides.
