Circa 1955 Ted Williams Boston Red Sox Game Used Glove - Displayed in Boston's "The Sports Museum" (Sources from Red Sox Clubhouse Manager)

Hard to overstate the rarity and value of this treasure, a Ted Williams game used fielder's glove. This rates as the toughest of all Williams game used items, and the only Williams glove we have ever handled. The Splendid Splinter's name is hand written on the webbing with vintage number 9 in ink. Dating from the 1955-57 period, enclosed documentation asserts that, since the glove has no model number and Williams' autograph is stamped on the pinky, this is definitely a personal model. One lace has broken and remnants of the red-and-black Wilson label remain on the wrist strap; the colors changed to black and yellow in 1957, which helps date this specimen. It was obtained in 1955 from Red Sox clubhouse man John Orlando, who gave it to a season box seat holder at Fenway Park and comes with the former owner's notarized letter; letters from Dennis Esken and Joe Phillips are included. Despite entering his late-30s during this period, Teddy Ballgame was still in top form, leading the league with a .388 batting average in 1957.
