Circa 1955 Willie Mays New York Giants Game Worn Hat with Provenance
A game used Willie Mays hat is a great thing, but a New York Giants Mays hat is beyond great. When it comes to game worn Mays items, those from the NY Giants are by far the rarest and most desirable. This amazing hat comes with a copy of a notarized letter detailing the background; the letter is from Mays' teammate Gail Harris noting that a glove and this hat were given to Jimmy and Jack Feazell in 1955 at the Polo Grounds, by Willie Mays. The hat is a McAuliffe size 6 7/8 with a leather band and it shows great use but there is a condition issue as the substance in the brim has cracked and is in pieces, and the green material under the brim is also torn. Vintage, faded "24" written on the green material under the brim. One of the greatest of all time, Mays was named in 1999 by The Sporting News as the second greatest player of all time, behind only Babe Ruth.
