Circa 1960 Fidel Castro Rebel Doll in original box
This extremely rare Fidel Castro Rebel Doll was distributed by C.I.D. Doll Corp., Havana, Cuba circa 1960. This Beatriz y Benipin Rebelde doll rests in her weathered but original, maufacturer-labeled box. The manufacturer's original price tag remains safety-pinned to her chest. Sold only in Cuba, this auburn-haired, green-eyed, blushing beauty dons an authentic Cuban military uniform in exceptional condition.. A brass star adorns her khaki cap. A bullet-studded, brass- buckled belt and gun holster accentuates this rebel girl's khaki jumpsuit. Black matte leather-look boots cover her soft, rubber-coated feet. On her left arm hangs a red and black "26" flag, representing the 26th of July Movement, Castro's revolutionary organization which led the 1959 movement to overthrow Cuba's government. From her nack hangs a silver chain with a 3/4" medallion of a saint which reverses to the black and red, time- worn but very legible "26 de Julio". She has a soft material body and molded plastic head. Her hands are made from soft rubber that is cracked with age. The maker's attention to details is impressive.
