Circa 1960s Bob Cousy Original Photograph Used for 1963 HP Hood Dairy Card (PSA Type I)

Circa 1960s Bob Cousy Original Photograph Used for 1963 HP Hood Dairy Card (PSA Type I)

Bob Cousy is a Naismith memorial Basketball Hall of Fame point guard whose passing and ball handling skills during the 1950s and early 1960s were electrifying and well ahead of his time. Presented is a circa 1960s Bob Cousy original Type I photograph used for his 1963 HP Hood Dairies card. Cousy was a magician with a basketball, and he was dribbling behind his back and passing behind his back and over his shoulders at a time when such moves were almost revolutionary. An accident, when Cousy was in high school and fell out of a tree and broke his right arm, forced him to play basketball left-handed for a time, and Cousy's play became ambidextrous - which became a huge advantage for him. Cousy was an All-American at Holy Cross University, and he played 13 NBA seasons, from 1950-63, and in 1969-70, all with the Boston Celtics, except for a brief time playing for the Cincinnati Royals when he was the team's coach. Cousy led the Boston Celtics to six NBA Championships. He was a 13-time All-Star and the '57 NBA MVP. He averaged 18.4 PPG in the NBA. and a career 7.5 APG, leading the NBA in assists for eight straight seasons, from 1952-53 through 1959-60. The offered 8x10" original black & white photo depicts Cousy dribbling the ball in his #14 Boston Celtics uniform. HP Hood, which used the offered photo in its 1963 basketball cards, is a famous dairy in the Boston area that dates back to 1846 and remains popular today. The photo has some very light fading from the passage of time but is in overall excellent condition. The photograph has been encapsulated and PSA certified AUTHENTIC.
