Circa 1960s Forbes Field Street Sign

Circa 1960s Forbes Field Street Sign

Vintage circa 1960s street sign that helped show fans the way to Forbes Field, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The large aluminum sign features a one-eyed pirate as he commands all to "Follow Me! - To.. Forbes Field." The sign (24x24") displays heavy wear from its years of outdoor use, including oxidation (mainly along the perimeter), scratches, and abrasions. There are also sixteen holes, both along the perimeter and the interior, that were used for mounting the sign. Forbes Field was home to the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1909 to 1970, and was also the first home venue for the Pittsburgh Steelers (1933-1963). This is an outstanding and scarce stadium souvenir relating to one of the most storied and historic stadiums in sports history.
