Circa 1963 Fred Marlin Navy Midshipmen Game Used Jersey

Circa 1963 Fred Marlin Navy Midshipmen Game Used Jersey

Nicely used circa 1963 Navy Midshipmen jersey game worn by offensive guard/placekicker Fred Marlin. Navy blue top has gold trim, tagging inside rear tail includes Eddie Leonard Sporting Goods on right side, left has King O'Shea and size 46 tags. Leonard's was a local Baltimore area supplier, while the O'Shea tagging is of the style used from 1963-70. Number 64 in gold tackle twill is on front, shoulders, and back; name in gold letters in on a plate above the rear number. Heavy use shows throughout from laundering as well as some separation and loose threads to the numbers, particularly the rear number; a look inside shows extensive team reinforcement over most of the stitching. Marlin was definitely a product of his time as there is no overlap in the two positions he played in the modern era. He actually led the nation in kicking points as a team captain on the Mids' '64 squad, where he played double-duty on the offensive line, protecting some precious cargo; future Hall of Fame quarterback Roger Staubach.
