Circa 1972 Joe Greene Original Photograph by Clifton Boutelle (PSA Type I)
Close-up view of Pittsburgh Steelers legend Joe Greene as taken by noted photographer Clifton Boutelle is more than meets the eye. "Mean" Joe's game face takes up the majority of this 7x9" black and white photo, wearing his iconic Pittsburgh Steelers helmet. A closer look reveals great subtlety, as Greene stares upward, likely at another Steelers lead on the Three Rivers Stadium scoreboard, with the extensive scrapes on the crown of the helmet and particularly across the Steelers' logo speaking to the trench wars which Greene dominated from the defensive line. He also appears to be wearing a sideline jacket, braving the cold Pittsburgh winter while waiting to return to the field. Back is blank except for pencil notations identifying the subject, and the name of the photographer. Encapsulated PSA Type I.
