Circa 1989 Ken Griffey Jr. Rookie Era Seattle Mariners Game Used Cooper Bat (PSA GU 8.5)
Hall of Fame slugger Ken Griffey, Jr. began his illustrious career with the 1989 Seattle Mariners, and here's one of the weapons he brandished at the plate that memorable rookie season, during which he famously played with his father. The Cooper C271 black ash bat is 34" in length and weighs 30.7". Both these numbers are stamped into the knob. The bat shows excellent use, with a crack on the handle that has been repaired. There are several ball marks on the back and left barrel, which include blue ink transfers and white leather scuffs on the left and back barrel. There are also blue bat rack marks on the right, left and front barrel, as well as on the handle. "Junior" regularly used Cooper bats at this early stage of his career, shortly before his signature criss-cross white tape application. PSA/DNA GU 8.5.
