Circa 1998 Anna Kournikova Signed Match Worn Dress (IMG & PSA LOAs)
Anna Kournikova combined with her doubles partner, Martina Hingis, to become what they referred to as "The Spice Girls". As a team, they were very successful, winning Grand Slam Women's Doubles Championships in Australia in both 1999 and 2002, and also taking the WTA Doubles Championship in 1999 and 2000. The aforementioned years were Kournikova's peak as a tennis star and offered is the tennis dress that was match worn circa 1998, just as she was about to reach her tennis heights. Although Kournikova was at one time ranked as high as 8th in the world, in 2000, she was not a singles star, but more of a specialist in doubles, such as Pam Shriver and Peter Fleming. The dress comes with a signed April 2, 1998, letter from IMG representative Nancy Driscoll that was sent to Mr. Leo A. Dekle, Jr., of Montrose, Alabama, in which Nancy Driscoll states, "Please find enclosed a tennis dress which Anna wore at one of her recent tournaments. We only get a few of these dresses each year so I think that this will generate a large bid...." The tennis dress is tagged "Adidas" in the collar, and "Adidas" is sewn onto the left lower front of the dress. Just below the right strap is tagged "No.1" and just below the left strap is tagged "ERRICSSON". Kournikova has signed the dress in black marker on the lower right front. There is no dress size indicated. The dress shows nice use, with sweat stains on the upper and lower back, and with a few tiny smudges. Overall, the dress is in excellent condition. Injuries curtailed Anna's career after the early 2000s, but before that her doubles play and good looks made her world famous, and this very attractive signed tennis dress is a fine tribute to her career.
