Circa 2000 Ken Griffey Jr. Cincinnati Reds Game Used Helmet
Superb Cincinnati Reds batting helmet game worn by Hall of Famer Ken Griffey, Jr. Date stamp inside helmet indicates that it was manufactured in 1998, though Junior did not join the Reds until the 2000 season; it is possible that this was worn by another player previous to Griffey, Jr., joining Cincinnati, though it is also possible that it had been in storage until he joined the squad. Red helmet has white C with black shadow on the front, bill is in black, and nice use is shown with various scuffs and helmet rack paint transfers. Also great use in the interior padding, size 7 1/4 size sticker is under the crown. There's what looks to be remnants of a glue/adhesive removal of a sticker; in 2001 the Reds wore an American flag decal to pay homage to the victims of 9/11 and the shadow of the sticker removal is in the same area in which they wore that flag sticker. Though injuries had begun to take their toll during his 9-year tenure in Cincy, Ken Griffey, Jr., remained immensely popular in the city in which his father was a key cog in the fabled Big Red Machine of the 1970s.
