Civil War Currency Collection of Richmond Notes (35)

Civil War Currency Collection of Richmond Notes (35)

Just prior to the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861, the Confederacy in Richmond, Virginia issued the first Confederate States of America dollar, though by the end of 1864, it was hardly worth the paper it was printed on. That's not the case anymore, however, as these greybacks - in denominations between one and 100 - have become prized historic artifacts. Here's a nice, untouched collection that breaks down this way: five 1$, one 2$, seven 5$, six $10, nine $20, four $50 and three $100 bills. There's a wide variety with period artwork and colors. The conditions range between GD and EX-MT.
