Cleveland Indians Stanford Pottery and Gibbs-Connor Banks (2)

Cleveland Indians Stanford Pottery and Gibbs-Connor Banks (2)

The Stanford Pottery company of Sebring, Ohio set the gold standard for ceramics in the late 1940s and its delightful line of Gibbs-Connor ceramic banks is highly coveted today. Among the subjects was this set of gleaming, NRMT ceramic statue-banks created in the smiling image of Indians team mascot Chief Wahoo, including the headdress. Each piece is marked with the Stanford Pottery manufacturers stamp on the underside. A beautiful echo of the American heartland of yore.
