Coach Bear Bryant's Hounds Tooth Hat Circa 1965-1970
Legendary Alabama football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant racked up 323 victories, six national championships and 13 SEC titles during his quarter-century in Tuscaloosa. But just as famous as his statistics were his trademark hound's tooth hats. Straight off the coach's head comes this plaid beauty from the late 1960s, which is in NRMT condition. There are two tags inside. One reads “Shandon, T.O. Gorman, Designer.” The other is a smaller size tag with 7 5/8 sewn onto the back. The hat originates from former Crimson Tide player Joe Atkinson, who was personally gifted the relic from Bryant. Also included in this lot are photos, news clippings and a reunion program, all centering on the esteemed coach.
