Collection of Original Artwork with Amadee and Gallo (20)
Thanks to more than seven decades of alliance with the St. Louis Cardinals organization, Red Schoendienst was honored quite often, including by renowned cartoonists. These 20 original, one-of-a-kind illustrations are all signed by the artists: longtime St. Louis Dispatch caricaturist Amadee Wohlschlaeger (19) and New York Daily News cartoonist Bill Gallo (1), who was an unapologetic Cards fan. Red was good friends with Amadee, whose claim to fame was drawing the daily Weatherbird cartoons for 50 years. These 20 strips, primarily focusing on Red, range in size between roughly 6" x 9" and 17" x 20" and Some are on Oaktag paper while others are on heartier cardboard stock, while five are signed by Schoendienst. The strips range from the 1950s to the 1970s and their average condition is VG-EX.
