Dave Banks 1927 New York Celtics Championship Pin

An ultra-rare pro basketball award, this handsome 14-karat gold pin belonged to Dave “Pretzel” Banks of the 1927 ABA New York Celtics Championship Team. Banks who stood only 5’5”, played like he was 7 feet tall. The 13th leading scorer in ABA history, he averaged a league leading 8.4 pp/g in that ‘27 season. This Celtic team was a trendsetter, bringing about the zone defense and incorporating the Center as the hub of the offense. They earned this piece of jewelry. There were no gaudy rings given in those times. Divided into 3 sections, the center features a diamond chip and below it reads “Celtics American League Basketball 1927.” Left side says “World.” Right side, “Champs.” The prized pin is in NR/MT condition.
